Dr. Andrew Kwabena Asamoah honored as Returnee International Civil Servant Entrepreneur of the Year

Dr. Andrew Kwabena Asamoah, founder and Chief Executive Officer of A&C Development Co. Ltd., a leading real estate and construction company, has received the Returnee International Civil Servant Entrepreneur of the Year award, recognizing his significant contributions to Ghana's Socio-Economic Development.

This diplomatic honour was presented during a ceremony held on September 14, 2024, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and the Diplomatic Affairs Media and Communications.

Themed "Leveraging Diplomacy for Industrialization, Sustainable Development, Peace and Security," the maiden edition of the event celebrated exceptional leadership in advancing Ghana’s foreign policy.

It attracted distinguished diplomats, both active and retired, international civil servants, senior government officials, members of the business community, policymakers, and traditional leaders—each playing a pivotal role in enhancing Ghana's bilateral and multilateral relations.

In their commendation, the organizing committee stated: “We congratulate you on your significant contributions to Ghana’s economic development and the business community. Your efforts have been crucial in advancing the country’s economic landscape and positively impacting the growth and success of the business sector. We are confident that this award will inspire Ghanaians to create and promote businesses, as well as influence governance and public service in the country.”



A&C Development Co. Ltd. is the company behind Ghana’s first shopping mall; A&C Mall, and its expansions, A&C Corner and the upcoming A&C Village.

A barrister-at-law, Dr. Asamoah had a distinguished 30-year career at the World Health Organization, holding key roles such as Director of Career Development and Global Security Coordinator, Director of Administration and Finance as well as Special Adviser to the WHO Director-General on Constitutional Matters.

He is a member of the Ghana and Nigerian Bar Associations, the American Society of International Law and the Royal Society of Arts of the U.K., among others.

His leadership has earned him numerous awards, including the National Award: Officer of the Order of the Volta presented by the President of the Republic of Ghana H.E. John Agyekum Kuffour in July 2008 for distinguishing himself in private sector development.

He has served in various governmental capacities, including Chairman of the National Labour Commission (2018–2022), and sits on numerous boards including the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, the UCC Medical School Endowment Fund and was the 1st President of the Board of Trustees of the renowned biomedical research Centre, Institute Pasteur, Dakar, Senegal (2008-2022).

“In recognition of his significant contributions, he was named Honorary Professor of the Academic Union of Oxford in 2023 and received a Doctor of Business Administration (Honoris Causa) in Leadership and Innovation from the Swiss School of Business and Management in 2021.
