ECOWAS Meetings: Ghana reaffirms commitment to regional cooperation and economic integration

Deputy Minister of Finance, Dr. Alex Ampaabeng has reiterated Ghana's unwavering dedication to regional integration and cooperation within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

During the Mid-Year ECOWAS Council of Ministers Meetings in Abuja, Nigeria, Dr. Ampaabeng emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among member states to achieve collective objectives.

"We are committed to working closely with our ECOWAS counterparts to foster deeper integration and enhance economic cooperation," Dr. Ampaabeng said.

“Ghana's active participation and advocacy for inclusive regional policies highlight its role as a key partner in shaping the future of West African economic integration,” he added.

Dr. Alex Ampaabeng led Ghana’s delegation on behalf of the Minister for Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam.

The discussions at the meetings underscored the significance of joint initiatives aimed at bolstering trade, infrastructure development, and policy harmonization among member states.

The meetings convened Hon. Ministers responsible for Finance, Foreign Affairs, and Regional Integration from across the ECOWAS sub-region, providing a platform to assess the community's mid-year performance reports and strategize on advancing regional economic goals.

The event, held in Abuja, served as a pivotal moment for ECOWAS member states to reaffirm their collective resolve towards regional stability and economic growth.

As discussions concluded, delegates expressed optimism about the prospects of intensified cooperation and renewed commitments towards achieving sustainable development goals across the ECOWAS region.
