Ederick Limited, a wholly Ghanaian-owned home appliance outlet, has unveiled its online store at a ceremony at the Novotel Hotel in Accra.
Mr Dean Nunoo, Head of Sales Marketing and Credit at Ederick said at the launch event that the company’s aim was to ensure it had a virtual store in every home in Ghana and beyond.
“We have realized that the world has become a global village and has also become technologically savvy. We thought the way we could reach everyone globally on a daily basis was through an online shop,” Mr Nunoo said.
Ederick Limited was founded and ran singlehandedly by Mr Freddy Sam in 1986. It was officially registered as a business in 1987 and it became a limited liability company in 1990.
With its flagship store at La, opposite the La General Hospital in Accra,Ederick Limited is the manufacturers representative for some very well known brands such as Whirlpool, Philips Electronics Glem Gas and Candy Hoover.
The company also has stores at Achimota and Baatsonaa on the Spintex Road, both in Accra, and in Kumasi. A branch is about to be opened in Takoradi.
Items stocked by Ederick Limited include washing machines and tumble dryers, airconditioners, cookers, refrigerators, freezers, television sets, home theatre systems and microwave ovens.
“Our focus, since inception, has been to provide unquestionable quality at very affordable pricing which we have been able to sustain,” Mr Nunoo said.
He took guests at the launch on a tour of the online store at www.ederickltd.com and explained that regardless of wherever a person was located, one could still shop at any time.
“No matter what time you feel like shopping, you can always by the click of a button, go to the Ederick online store and shop. Once payment is confirmed, you can arrange for delivery or pick up your items in-store.”
According to the Head of Sales Marketing and Credit at Ederick Limited, customers could choose which currency platform they wished to shop on.
“If you live in Europe and your main currency is the Euro, you can shop online on a Euro platform. If are in the United States, you can shop on a dollar platform just as those in the United Kingdom can go to the pound platform.”
He added that prices of their items online are slightly lower than the showroom prices and that deliveries within Accra-Tema Metropolis, Kumasi and Takoradi are free but anything beyond those areas attracted some charges.
Mr Robert Sarkodie, Head of Corporate Banking at Zenith Bank which is collaborating with Ederick Limited on its online payment platform, assured everyone that shopping at www.ederickltd.com was a secure venture and people should not entertain any fears about going there to do business.
