Ekumfiman Rural Bank launches mobile banking system

Ekumfi-Essueshyia (C/R), June 4, GNA - Management of the Ekumfiman Rural Bank at Ekumfi-Essueshyia in the Central Region in collaboration with the bank's Board of Directors, have launched a mobile banking system designed to carry the rural banking concept to the door-steps of farmers, fishermen, fishmongers and petty traders in communities within the bank's catchment area.

Launching it at Ekumfi-Essueshyia on Tuesday, Nana Obrenu II, Chairman of the Board of Directors said the bank would inculcate a deeper sense of banking in the local people and help them, particularly farmers and fishermen, to develop greater interest and love for savings. Nana Obrenu said the bank was ready more than ever, to provide the inhabitants in the Nfantseman District with excellent banking services and advised them to save with the bank.

Mr Michael Kusi Frimpong, Manager, assured both old and prospective customers of the bank staff's determination to foster closer ties with them to move the bank forward.

Mr Frimpong said with the introduction of the mobile banking system, monies would be sent to customers in their towns and villages where necessary to save them from travelling long distances to Essueshyia to cash their monies.

He commended teachers, artisans, traders, transport operators, government employees in the area who patronise the bank for their support and co-operation and advised those who have not yet registered with the bank to do so to solve some of their financial problems. 04 June 04
