Foreign Affairs Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has called on Kuwait Ambassador to Ghana, Mohammed Abdallah Al-Khalidi who submitted his open letter to her Tuesday, October 15, 2019 to encourage Kuwaiti business moguls to come and invest in Ghana.

The call for the investment in Ghana is in line with President Akufo-Addo’s Ghana Beyond Aid initiative.

During Mohammed Abdallah Al-Khalidi's submission of his open letter, the Foreign Affairs Minister noted that, “His excellency the President of Ghana has embarked on a very important vision and has adopted a policy of a Ghana Beyond Aid and a Ghana Beyond Aid is a Ghana that is self-sufficient, that is able to develop on its own, to create jobs for the youth and also to ensure that our relations with our partners and our friends are on a level of trade and investment”.

“Aid cannot build or develop any country. So, I am hoping that during your time here in Ghana, you will encourage Kuwaiti businesses to come and invest in Ghana,” she added.

Under listing some of the opportunities Kuwaitis can take advantage of, the minister noted; government's 1 district 1 factory, 1 village 1 dam, as well as government's new vision of constructing industrial parks in every region of Ghana.

However, the minister said she looks forward to a mutual relationship where Ghanaians can equally export non-traditional goods to Kuwait.

Previously, Ghana has benefitted from several Kuwaiti funding including trauma and acute center of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

Others include rural electrification in the northern part of Ghana, as well as Kpone hydro-electric projects.

The Kuwait Ambassador, on the occasion, thanked the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the government for the gesture and called for a longstanding diplomatic trade relations between the two countries.
