Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Minister for Energy and Petroleum (MOEP) has called on the heads of sector agencies to collaborate effectively to achieve the policy goals of the energy sector.
The Minister made the call in a meeting with Board of Chairman and CEOs of energy sector agencies on Thursday.
This was contained in a press statement issued by the Ministry and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Friday in Accra.
It stated that the current challenges in the energy sector, which are mainly finance and inadequate investment, would be surmounted if all sector agencies put their shoulders to the wheel and rededicate themselves to the cause.
The statement said: ”the provision of universal access to modern energy and the attainment of acceptable reliability in the delivery of electricity services remain the focus of the John Mahama administration”.
It said the main challenges currently facing the country’s energy sector included attaining acceptable reliability in the delivery of electricity services and the affordability of modern energy services.
It said Professor Akilakpa Sawyer, Chairman of the Board of the Volta Riva Authority (VRA), acknowledged the challenges in the energy sector saying that, much could be achieved when there was effective communication between the sector agencies.
The statement said Professor Sawyer congratulated the Minister on his appointment and pledged the agencies’ support for the Minister to achieve the policy goals.
