Engen Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of PETRONAS in Malaysia, has appointed Samir Engineering and Trading Company Limited (SETL)/ Quantum Petroleum, as the official distributor of Engen’s full range of lubricants in the country.

Mr Henry Akwaboah, Managing Director of Engen Ghana, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra on Tuesday that Samir Engineering had an extensive market presence, and a dedicated marketing arm, and was in a strong position to deliver excellent service to the joint lubricants customers.

He said based on Samir Engineering’s distribution strength the partnership had strategic importance, as it would increase Engen’s lubricants current footprint of 22 retail service stations to a total of 54 retail service stations, with the addition of SETL’s/QUANTUM lubricants operation.

“We look forward to combining our strengths to bring mutual rewards in the Ghanaian Lubricant market,” he said.

Engen Ghana Ltd (EGL) was established in 1998, with its first service stations opening in Tema and Accra in 1999.

Mr Akwaboah said its operations had grown substantially since then, and currently operates 21 service stations across Ghana with four under construction.

He said Engen is an Africa-based energy company focusing on the downstream refined petroleum products market and related businesses.

The company’s core functions are the refining of crude oil, the marketing of our primary refined petroleum products, and the provision of convenience services via our extensive retail network.

It is present in over 20 countries and exports products to over 30 more countries, mostly in Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands
