Engen Ghana Limited, an affiliate of Engen Petroleum South Africa, has affirmed its brand of products and professional operations in the Ghanaian downstream oil marketing companies in fulfillment of the company's commitment to becoming the Oil Company of Choice in Ghana.

Mr Henry Akwaboah, Managing Director of ENGEN Ghana, explained that “at Engen Ghana the way we do business is inextricably linked to our Values - Integrity, Ownership, Team Work, Empowerment and Performance.

“These Values underpin our day to day operations as a responsible corporate citizen in every territory in which we operate. We view sustainability as an integral part of our business operations, recognising that People, Planet and Profit together form the foundation of Engen's long-term growth and success”.

Mr Akwaboah who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Accra after a meeting with Ms Lulu Xingwana, the South African High Commissioner to Ghana, noted that Engen has adopted the right balance between environmental performance, social equity, and financial prosperity in all their decisions and activities.

He said “Engen is an Africa-based energy company focusing on the downstream refined petroleum products market and related businesses. The company’s core functions are the refining of crude oil, the marketing of our primary refined petroleum products and the provision of convenience services via our extensive retail network.”

Mr Akwaboah said ENGEN Ghana continued to ensure a standardized integrated system to manage Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) at all its sites of operation.

On notable achievements for 2015, the Engen Ghana Managing Director, noted that the Company appointed Samir Engineering and Trading Company Limited (SETL)/ Quantum Petroleum, as the official distributor of Engen’s full range of lubricants in the country.

He explained that Samir Engineering had an extensive market presence, and a dedicated marketing arm, and was in a strong position to deliver excellent service to customers.

He said Engen Ghana has also launched an online tool that makes real-time recommendations on the best possible lubricating oil for a customer's make and model of vehicle.

The tool provided marketing and strategic support for Engen Lubricants which enabled customers to search through an international database of automotive manufacturers.

On the impact of the deregulation of OMCs operations, Mr Akwaboah noted that the price volatility put a lot of pressure on OMCs as the fortnight price review makes it extremely difficult to hold stock.

Ms Xingwana commended Engen Ghana for maintaining the company’s tradition of excellence in leadership and customer focus as well as adhering to high safety measures.

Engen Ghana was established in 1998, with its first service stations opening in Tema and Accra in 1999. It now operates in seven regions.
