Alhaji Muhammad Umar, an entrepreneur and Chief Executive Officer of Zaa radio, a local radio station based in Tamale, has said the Tamale Metropolis has the great potential to be projected as an investment destination in the country.
He said he was packaging an investment drive through radio and business contacts to achieve the goal of making the Tamale Metropolis an investment destination and that such a strategy would create jobs and enhance the standard of living of the people.
Alhaji Umar was addressing a press conference in Tamale on Thursday to brief the media on the launching of Zaa Radio Entrepreneur and Investment Month.
He said the launch was going to be addressed by industry players including Mr Alhassan Andani, the Managing Director of Stanbic Bank and many other successful business persons to create the sense of investment and the need for people to open up more businesses.
He suggested the month of December every year should be used to organize business fairs which would attract renowned bankers, international investors and business managers to share their knowledge in seminars and symposiums.
Alhaji Umar, who has over 20 years experience in entrepreneurial activities in the US, said with the plan to turn Tamale Airport to an international airport, many opportunities would avail themselves and urged the youth to avoid conflicts and begin to nurse ambitions.
He appealed to the government to create the enabling environment for businesses to take off and that there was the need for the government to reduce the employer tax, which is 13.5% to 5% as a motivation for people to employ many jobless youth.
