Equity market extends gains

The market indices sustained an upward movement for a third consecutive day.

The Ghana Stock Exchange’s Composite Index (GSE-CI) crept up by 1.80 points to settle at ~2,387 points while the Databank Stock Index gained 21.19 points to ~30,623 points. The year to date returns of the GSE-CI and the Databank Stock Index stand at 41.33% and 37.12% respectively.

A total of 217,679 shares were traded across 14 counters today. These trades culminated in a market turnover of GH¢142,501. Societe Generale Ghana accounting for ~39% of volume traded today.

The equities market recorded 3 gainers and 3 laggards. Ghana Oil Company led the pack of gainers with a 3Gp appreciation to GH¢2.59. Societe Generale Ghana and Intravenous Infusions Ltd gained 1Gp each to 75Gp and 9Gp respectively. Benso Oil Palm Plantation however, lost 2Gp to GH¢6.00. Enterprise Group Ltd and Starwin Products Ltd dipped by a pesewa each to GH¢3.95 and 2Gp respectively.
