Oil and Gas Production on the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO Kwame Nkrumah) will be interrupted twice next year following a shut down, officials say.

This will occur in January and March respectively, each for three weeks to allow for repair of the turret.

Similar repair works on the faulty bearing last year knocked off petroleum production in the country, according to a PIAC report.

Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko told Parliament Friday, November 17, 2017 that the maintenance works is crucial for the stabilization of the turret of the FPSO.

He indicated that adhoc steps have been taken to make recovery of the gaps.

“Mr Speaker, Oil and Gas production will be interrupted in 2018 with two shut downs for three weeks each, on January 18, 2018 on March,07, 2018 to enable repair works proceed. Steps are being taken to optimize a number of Shut downs and minimize shut down duration. Interruption of Gas supply during the temporary shut down will be compensated for by gas from the newly commissioned TEN field. Offloading will continue to be by means of the shuttle tanker until 4th quarter 2019 when the Offshore offloading system will be in place.
