Financial stocks push up market index

Accra, Feb. 18, GNA - Financial stocks on Wednesday pushed up the Ghana Stock Exchange in moderate trading that saw 11 price changes. The Ghana Stock Exchange All-Share Index surged 97.46 points at 4,260.33 points with change in the year ending at 19.89 per cent from Monday's 17.15 per cent.

Total shares traded were up at 506,400 shares from Monday's 148,700.

On the broader market, there were 11 price changes, 10 up one down. The Trust Bank of the Gambia continued its good run with 100 cedis at 12,100 cedis, SSB Bank was 605 cedis better at 21,005 cedis, Home Finance Company made 200 cedis at 5,800 cedis, Ghana Commercial Bank rose by 155 cedis at 10,105 cedis and Enterprise Insurance Company jumped by 1,00 cedis at 12,000 cedis.

Cocoa Products Company gained 30 cedis at 710 cedis, Guinness Ghana Limited inched up by two cedis at 7,002 cedis, Mechanical Lloyd was also two cedis better 829 cedis, Produce Buying Company appreciated by 300 cedis at 2,800 cedis and Unilever was better by two cedis at 15,507 cedis. The only loser was Aluworks Company Limited, which went down by 500 cedis at 3,500 cedis.

Market capitalization moved up to 14,402.21 billion cedis from 14,156.05 billion cedis.
