Financial stocks sustain bourse

Accra, Aug. 8, GNA - Financial stocks helped to sustain the gains on the Accra bourse on Wednesday, as the main stock index rose by 3.42 points.

Four of the five gainers were banks while the fifth was an insurance company.

The GSE All-Share Index ended at 5,358.25 points from 5,354.83 points. Change for the year was 7.04 per cent. Shares that changed hands jumped to 847,300 from 91,000 on Tuesday with CAL Bank selling 818,000 shares.

There were five price changes, all positive.

CAL Bank gained 0.0100 GH cedis at 0.3350 GH cedis, Ecobank Ghana was 0.0005 GH cedis higher at 1.4845 GH cedis, Enterprise Insurance Company jumped up by 0.0040 GH cedis at 1.1600 GH cedis, Ghana Commercial Bank was 0.0014 better at 0.6890 GH cedis and SG-SSB gained 0.0003 GH cedis at 0.9081 GH cedis.

Market capitalization was 11,584.89 GH cedis from GH cedis 11,582.72 million GH cedis.
