Finatrade offers five-week internship to nine students

Mr John Awuni, Director of Corporate Affairs of Finatrade Group of Companies, says internship for university agricultural students had over the years formed part of the scholarship scheme of the corporate entity.

He said the internship is to give the students practical knowledge of the working environment and to assist them to develop their entrepreneurial skills.

Mr Awuni made this known when he addressed nine students after their five-week internship at some companies under Finatrade and the Biotechnology Department at the University for Development Studies.

Nine students participated in the programme with six of them attached to Market Direct Limited, Freight Links Logistics, Dry Food Processing, CCTC and Sucatrade.

They were under the supervision of the various human resource officers, who took them through the various office functions including record keeping, staff recruitment and monitoring.

Three others had their internship at the Department of Biotechnology of the Faculty of Agriculture, University for Development Studies where they were exposed to lots of agricultural related fields.

He said Finatrade did not only pay the bursaries of the students but also equipped them with hand on practical’s and entrepreneurship skills.

Mr Awuni who doubles as the Executive Secretary of Finatrade Foundation, applauded the beneficiaries for their discipline and dedication, and expressed the hope that the internship had served its purpose.

Ms Emma Adom, on behalf of the beneficiary students thanked the Foundation for the opportunity given them, and gave the assurance that the training would continue to be their guiding principle in future.

“We can assure you that we learnt a lot during the five weeks and we are grateful,” she said.
