ElectroFlow Technologies Ghana Limited has launched a new energy saving device known as ElectroFlow Systems.
The system has been designed to help industries and other commercial houses to have access to quality power and conserve energy as well.
According to Dr Mike Mehrdad, President of Electroenergy Technologies, ElectroFlow is an integrated system which is equipped with a microprocessor based regulator which monitors voltage, current, power factor and current threshold.
He said the system is uniquely designed for each facility or organisation based on measurements taken and data gathered at customer's electrical distribution centre.
He said the system has been developed such that it can lower electricity bills by as much as 34 per cent.
"ElectroFlow reduces commercial and industrial electric costs by a high percentage and payback periods of two years, while increasing the longevity of equipment and machinery," Dr Mehrdad said.
He said the system has benefits like reduction of Kilo Watt demand, reduce maintenance, eliminate damaging surges and provide optimum power factor ranging from 95-100 per cent.
Mr K. Otu Danquah, Acting Director, Renewable Energy and Conservation who read a speech on behalf of the Energy Minister said energy efficiency and conservation have been identified as one of the most cost-effective ways to meet the country's current and future energy supply needs and reduce the cost of production in industries.
He said although electricity constitutes only 11 per cent of the total energy consumed in the country, the impact of the 1998 power shortages was quite enermous on the economy.
Mr Danquah said recent tariff increases and poor cases of power quality and low reliability call for the re-examination of consumer attitude towards the use of electricity.
He said the Energy Ministry is committed to assisting and encouraging consumers to employ the most efficient technologies and practices to avoid waste in the system and improve power quality.
He commended the company for their initiative and called on them to develop a technology for small and medium scale industries on credit basis.
Mr David Arkutu, Managing Director of ElectroFlow Technologies said energy conservation is an important issue for governments all over the world.
He said as a result of this, the company has introduced the system to facilitate energy conservation and the provision of quality energy in the country.
