Accra, April 22, GNA - The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation was on Thursday officially signed on to the principles of the Ghana Business Code.
The Ghana Business Code is a set of principles that encourage organizations to respect human rights at workplace, fair labour practices, sound environmental management principles and transparency.
The Business Code was developed by the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) and the Ghana Employers Association (GEA) to help improve the culture of doing business in Ghana.
Mr William Ampem-Darko, Director General of GBC at a ceremony to officially sign unto the code said GBC was committed to making the Ghana Business Code and its principles part of the strategy, culture and day to day operations of the company. "We pledge to work with the International Business Practice and the business associations towards that end. We support public accountability and transparency and will report on progress made in a public manner," he said.
Mr Johnson Ben Oduro, Manager of the Ghana Business Code project, said the practice of corporate social responsibility was not just a philanthropic act by way of donating or sponsoring an activity in society but also ethical practices that borders on mutual respect between employers and employees.
"We believe strongly that implementation of the code has the potential to contribute to the fight against corruption, to improve the management of the environment and also improve labour relations at the workplace."
