GBC working hard to be first in competitive banking

Tema, July 7, GNA- Ghana Commercial Bank (GBC) is strategically positioning itself to be at the top of the competitive banking environment.

Speaking at the opening of the Bank's 140th branch in the Safebond area of Tema, Mr Samuel Sarpong, Deputy Managing Director Operations, who announced this, said the expansion of its retail network channel was to enable it bring its services closer to the customers. He said it was also part of the bank's intention to mobilize deposits, which would be channelled into business ventures to promote the country's socio-economic development.

Mr Sarpong said the bank was undertaking a re-branding of its premises and piloting new customer service programmes to enhance efficiency and ensure customer satisfaction.

"In all this, our aim is to deliver customer-focused and tailored services to meet the demand of our clients. Indeed in our designs the customers remain supreme," he said. The bank currently operates 10 agencies, bringing the number of its retail outlets to 150.

Mr David Quaye Annang, Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, said the expansion of the bank's branch networks throughout the country was an indication of the favourable business climate that the businesses were operating in.

He said the bank had made the right response by opening the branch at the Safebond area to meet the needs of both importers and exporters to save them from the hustle of keeping large sums of money for their operations.

Mr Annang expressed the hope that GCB would be proactive in responding to customer demands through the offer of good and innovative products to enable it to meet its growth objectives. 7 July 08
