GCB share price soars on Ghana Stock Exchange

Accra, March 22, GNA - In anticipation of a favourable first quarter results, Ghana Commercial Bank on Monday posted 980 cedis gain and coupled with 1,100 cedis gain by Aluworks sent the GSE All-Share Index up 108.47 points to finish at 5,439.83 points. The market index had earlier closed at 5,331.36 points at the close of trading last Friday.

Seven other equities saw upward price changes. Total shares traded closed higher at 332,600 as against 325,800 posted on Friday.

In the broader market, GCB finished higher at 15,000 cedis. Aluworks, the only aluminium company on the Exchange went up at 7,500 cedis while Ghana Breweries Limited, soon to merge with Guinness Ghana Limited, made 140 cedis to close at 1,700 cedis.

Guinness closed 60 cedis richer to finish at 8,510 cedis.

Mechanical Lloyd Company continued its run making 116 cedis to end at 1,260 cedis while SSB Bank went up 20 cedis to close at 25,030 cedis. Cocoa Processing Company and Home Finance Company made six cedis and five cedis each to end at 1,021 cedis and 8.755 cedis, respectively. The other gainer was Accra Brewery Limited, which made five cedis to edge up to 605 cedis.

Market capitalisation went up to 17,381.61 billion cedis compared to Friday's close of 17,107.46 billion cedis.
