Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Kwame Prempeh, has said the implementation of the Ghana Electronic Procurement System (GHANEPS) will improve transparency in public procurement processes.
Kwame Prempeh has observed that the successful implementation of GHANEPS will help reduce nepotism and corruption in state agencies concerning procurement.
Speaking to Kumasi-based OTEC 102.9 FM's afternoon political show dubbed 'Dwabrem' on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, Mr. Prempeh said GHANEPS will not only ensure transparency in all tendering operations but will also ensure uniformity in procedures and the consistent application of international standards for the procurement of goods.
He added that the move is to foster competition and efficiency in procurement processes while leveraging Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
"The authority seeks to ensure fairness, transparency, and non-discrimination in public procurement in order to promote a competitive local industry and increase the confidence of our varied stakeholders in public procurement processes in the country and beyond," he said.
He, however, called on all companies and state agencies to team up with PPA and get to understand the system for effective collaboration.
