The Ghana Ship Suppliers and Services Association (GHASSA), has marked it a 1-year anniversary ceremony in Tema to assess the growth of the association within the dynamic shipping sub-sector.

The Association of ship suppliers in the country, was officially launched a year ago, to position itself in making a great impact in the maritime industry in the light of port transformation in Ghana.

According to the Chairman of the Ghana Ship Suppliers Association, Charles Agboto the formation of the association is significant as a means of improving its professional identification and also creating a central unit that caters for the needs of the various ship suppliers in the ever-changing shipping industry.

“In consultation with the authorities, GPHA and others we came to agree that an association should be formed so that bad people within the shipping business can be fished out for the professionals to work peacefully and harmoniously,” he said.

In a speech read of his behalf, the Minister of Transport, Kweku Ofori Asiamah, encouraged the Ghana Ship Supply industry to bolster its efforts to strategize and take advantage of the several businesses that would emerge from the investments made to transform Ghana’s port and shipping industry.

A former Director of Tema Port, Jacob Adorkor who was the Chairman of the anniversary ceremony, called on all the major institutions in the port enclave, to contribute to the improvement of the Association.

“When you work in isolation it does not yield results but when we collaborate with each other we will achieve greater results,” he added.
Other stakeholders gave their well wishes for the progress of the association.
