GMA expresses concern about their new salaries

Akropong-Akuapem (E/R), March 27, GNA - The Assistant General Secretary of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr Sodzi Sodzi-Tettey has said it was not true that medical officers were well off with the introduction of new salaries for them.

He said with the introduction of the new salaries for the Doctors, many allowances that they used to enjoy had been withdrawn, making them relatively worse off.

Dr Sodzi-Tettey was speaking to journalists at a press conference the GMA organized after the Second National Executive Meeting of the GMA at Akropong at the weekend.

The National President of the Association, Dr Francis Adu-Ababio said the Association had noticed some inconsistencies in the implementation of the new health service salary scheme and had used lawful channels to point out such flaws to the Government. He said, however, the observation of the association was that the Government was reluctant to respect clear-cut provisions outlined in the National Labour Law to resolve labour disputes.
