The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has expressed its commitment to empowering Ghanaian artisans through its Skills Development Program as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s workforce.

This comes after the state corporation was recently recognised for its exceptional Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, receiving the prestigious Energy With Purpose Award (CSR Impact Honour) at the inaugural Premier Energy Leadership Middle East & Africa Conference & Awards in Dubai on October 17, 2024, under the theme: “Harnessing AI for a Sustainable Energy Future – Innovations, Impact, and Integration.”

The high-level energy leadership conference and awards gala were organised by The Governance & Business Boardroom in collaboration with the Middle East Solar Industry Association, JEPMSS, and Energy Governance Middle East & Africa Magazine.

The event attracted top energy leaders and stakeholders from across the region, showcasing advancements in the energy sector and recognizing outstanding contributions.

GNPC’s CSR recognition is a testament to the impactful community projects spearheaded by the corporation's Foundation across Ghana. The Foundation has been instrumental in driving initiatives that improve the quality of life for Ghanaians, including providing scholarships (both local and international) for tertiary education, and constructing critical infrastructure such as science laboratories, sick bays, CHPS compounds, classroom blocks, dormitories, and sanitary facilities.

In addition, GNPC has played a vital role in developing the skills of artisans across the country, offering training programs and equipping them with essential start-up tools to foster entrepreneurship. The Foundation’s CSR activities extend to building AstroTurfs, dining halls, boreholes, and other infrastructure aimed at boosting community development.

Accepting the award on behalf of GNPC were Deputy Chief Executive (Finance), Benjamin Kweku Acolatse Esq., and the Executive Director of the GNPC Foundation, Dr. Dominic Kwesi Eduah. Both officials reaffirmed the corporation’s commitment to continuing its life-changing initiatives.

"This award underscores the significant impact we have made in communities across Ghana," Dr. Eduah remarked.

"We remain dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all Ghanaians and will not rest until we see remarkable improvements in the lives of individuals and communities nationwide," he added.

GNPC’s recognition highlights its role as a key player in using energy resources for the betterment of society, making it a leader in both the energy sector and CSR impact in Ghana and beyond.
