The leading oil marketing company in Ghana, GOIL has held a send-off ceremony to celebrate its former Managing Director and Group CEO of the Company, Patrick Akpe Kwame Akorli who many touted as having transformed the company during his stewardship.

Under his leadership, GOIL constructed 13.5 million litre Marine Gas Oil tanks at the Port of Takoradi for bunkering of vessels and also provided bunkering facilities at the Port of Tema which attracted vessels to the Ports among others.

The event which was well attended was also graced by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Obed Akwa as well current and past service commanders, and Nana Barima Osei Mensuhene who represented the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. Both present and former board members of GOIL also attended the event among a host of other dignitaries.

The acting Managing Director and Group CEO of GOIL, Kwame Osei Prempeh described his predecessor has someone who exhibited commitment and exemplary leadership skills to ensure that GOIL became a household name.

“His passion for work, his commitment to duty and above all his love for Ghana is exemplary. If you discuss anything with him it is always Ghana first, he always wants to create jobs for the youth. It is this kind of person that we need in this country,” he said.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah said Patrick Akorli served GOIL with selfless devotion, dedication and patriotism which won a lot of recognition for the company.

“In 2016, GOIL was adjudged the best quality in oil and gas. GOIL was also the CIMG petroleum company of the year in the same year. Again in 2017, GOIL was adjudged the CIMG petroleum company of the year and won the same award in the following year,” he enumerated.

For his part, the former MD and group CEO of GOIL, Patrick Akpe Akorli said his loyalty to the GOIL Company was unquestionable.

The Ghana Private Roads and Transport Union presented two air tickets to Patrick Akorli and his spouse for a vacation in Dubai.
