Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL) has been adjudged the Overall Best Taxpayer 2017 (Customs Division) by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

At a ceremony to present the award in Accra, the GRA recognised GOIL’s demonstrable ability to do business in compliance with the law.

Over the years, GOIL has won several awards and maintained its leadership role in the Petroleum retail sector.

It has won prestigious awards like CIMG Petroleum Company of the Year four times in the last five years. It has also been recognised by the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers as the overall best OMC in the country, and ranked consistently by the Ghana Club 100 as one of the top three companies in the country.

The GRA particularly recognised GOIL’s excellent voluntary compliance in petroleum lifting in depots, describing it as “worth-emulating”.

“You always pay your taxes and file returns on time. Again, you are very cooperative when being audited,” the citation from the GRA stated.

Commenting on the award, Goil’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Alex Adzew, underlined the company’s good corporate practices including its consistent tax compliance.

Over the last five years, he added, GOIL has become a reliable revenue contributor to the state.
