GOtv Ghana Limited, a sister company to MultiChoice Ghana Limited, has rolled out its GOtv services in Kumasi of the Ashanti Region using the latest generation Digital Video Broadcast standard - DVB-T2.
GOtv offers the greatest selection of channels made in Africa for Africa as well as the best international channels from as low as GHS15.00 per month. Exciting launch offer of GHS 153.00 inclusive of decoder, three months subscription for GOtv Plus and a grid antenna.
After a successful launch in Accra earlier this year, new digital terrestrial television (DTT) service, GOtv has rolled out its services to Kumasi. The service was launched at a function held at the Golden Tulip Hotel on Thursday April 4, 2013.
Having met all regulatory and licensing requirements, GOtv is the first operator in Ghana to launch a DVB-T2 digital pay TV service. Therefore Kumasi represents one of the most advanced DTT broadcast systems and infrastructure established, not only in Ghana, or Africa, but in the rest of the world to date; and leapfrogs the outdated DVB-T1 (or ISDB-T) systems. This puts Ghana at the forefront of technology in the DTT space.
Kumasi residents are now set to benefit from easy access to an increased number of channels, with enhanced picture and sound quality synonymous with digital television at a price they can afford.
GOtv Ghana Director, Cecil Sunkwa-Mills said, "GOtv uses the DVB-T2 technology, which is the most advanced digital terrestrial television technology worldwide. Not only are we putting Ghana in the technological forefront, but we are ensuring that our customers only have to migrate once."
GOtv Ghana Limited, a proudly Ghanaian company, has a rich history in the Ghana terrestrial market. Formerly known as DStv Mobile Ghana (and priorto that called Real TV Ghana), the company has held terrestrial broadcasting licenses in Ghana since 1993. As DStv Mobile it pioneered the provision of mobile TV broadcasting to handheld mobile devices, and today, nearly 20 years later is at the forefront of innovation again with GOtv, which uses the latest DVB-T2 technology available in the world.
GOtv utilizes the DVB-T2 technology standard, which allows for no less than 21 channels per frequency, this is different from other first generation standards such as ISDB-T or DVB-T1, which only allow for up to 13 channels per frequency.
Thus, there is a dramatic improvement on the dividend of terrestrial frequencies available when DVB-T2 is deployed.
GOtv, having proven itself in Accra, offers exciting pay television packages which deliver great value and give television lovers access to sport, news, children's programming, documentaries, series and movies - opening up a world of new and exciting family entertainment at a price everyone can afford.
GOtv delivers digital television for everyone and will enable indigenes of the Garden City to experience the digital television revolution in their own home.
Kingsley Afful, GOtv Business Manager added, "When people think of digital television they immediately imagine it has to be expensive, this is not the case with GOtv, which offers great family entertainment at affordable prices.
In fact, the GOtv service was specially created to make an affordable digital television product available for all.
Residents of Kumasi are now benefiting from easy access to an increased number of digital channels, with enhanced picture and sound quality synonymous with digital television.
The GOtv channel lineup and bouquets, which have been researched extensively, are uniquely created to enable GOtv to become the home of African television."
GOtv channels are selected to ensure that subscribers get an exciting range of channels, which will cater for the whole family.
The line-up is designed to cater for a variety of different tastes and cultures. This ensures that subscribers enjoy improved picture and sound quality synonymous with digital television.
Afful, concluded by saying that football loving viewers are set to enjoy the best of live soccer entertainment with selected games from the all the major leagues if they became GOtv subscribers; English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, Italian Serie A and German Bundesliga plus UEFA Champions League and Europa League.
