Mr. Isaac Crentsil, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Post Clearance Audit of Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has appealed to Management of the Authority to discuss with Government to employ new staff to replace retired ones.
DC Crentsil made the appeal when he represented the Commissioner of Customs, Mr. John Vianney at a Pull-Out Ceremony in honour of Assistant Commissioner (AC) Mr. Benjamin Bayor Suuri, Sector Commander of the Sunyani Collection over the weekend in Sunyani.
He said due to the high rate of retirement in the Division, there was the need for constant recruitment of new staff to be trained to fill the vacuum created.
DC Crentsil commended AC Suuri for his selfless, committed and unity of purpose style of leadership, which made him exceptional, and also his administrative strategy and excellent delivery, that underpinned the many laurels in his 34-years of meritorious services at wherever he worked.
He recounted some of Mr. Suuri’s remarkable achievements, saying that, in 2005, at Aflao in the Volta Region, he was adjudged the Best Manager and at Wa in the Upper West Region in 2013, his area emerged the only collection point that exceeded its target in the country.
DC Crentsil urged workers of the Division, particularly the young ones, to emulate AC Suuri’s shining example.
In response, AC Suuri expressed gratitude to the Almighty God for steering him safely through all his working years.
His revelation that, out of the eight colleagues employed almost the same time in the Division, only two including himself were alive, quickly changed the mood and the faces of the invited guests, including Service Commanders from the Police, Army, Fire Service, Immigration, Bureau of National Investigation (BNI), most of whom came from across the length and breadth of the Country.
Also present at the ceremony was Mr. Malik Mahama, in-coming Commander of the Sunyani Collection, who incidentally was in Sunyani 22 years ago as a junior Officer.
