GSE hits another bad patch as index slumps

Accra, Feb. 18, GNA - The main benchmark of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) hit another bad patch in trading on Friday as the index slumped under the weight of significant losses by Aluworks and Fan Milk Limited.

The GSE All-Share Index lost 11.54 points at 6,839.98 points from Wednesday's close of 6,851.52 points. Change for the year also slipped by 0.61 per cent.

Shares traded closed higher at 163,600.

There were four price changes, two up and two down. Aluworks 350 cedis at 7,000 cedis, bringing the total loss of the equity during the week to 1,000 cedis and Fan Milk Limited slumped by a whopping 1,000 cedis at 19,000 cedis.

Benso Oil Palm Plantation (BOPP) continued its rise with 50 cedis at 7,050 cedis and CFAO gained five cedis at 255 cedis. Market capitalisation closed lower at 97,728.96 billion cedis from 3,663.42 million issued shares.
