GSE posts weak gain after TBL loss

Accra, July 23, GNA - The Ghana Stock Exchange registered a weak gain on Friday weighed down by a 100-cedi loss by the Trust Bank of the Gambia.

The GSE All-Share Index, the benchmark measure, closed higher by only 3.22 points at 7,132.10 points despite healthy gains by three equities - Mobil Oil Ghana Limited, Fan Milk Limited and Clydestone. Total shares traded slipped to 225,100 from 255,100 on Wednesday and market capitalisation was better at 97,257.44 billion cedis from Wednesday's close of 97,249.18 billion cedis from 3,380.21 issued shares.

On the broader market, there were four price changes - three up and one down.

Mobil Oil Ghana Limited gained 890 cedis at 43,000 cedis, Fan Milk Limited was up by 301 cedis at 8,501 cedis and Clydestone continued its rise with 50 cedis at 1,150 cedis. The only loser was The Trust Bank of the Gambia, which went down by 100 cedis at 31,400 cedis.
