GSE records healthy trading

Accra, May 23, GNA - The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) recorded an active session on Wednesday with more than five million shares changing hands as CAL Bank continued to record bulk sales.

The GSE All-Share index, the benchmark measure of the bourse, closed up by 3.95 points from 5,171.02 points to 5,167.07 points. Total shares traded closed higher once again by about 100 per cent from at 5,058,700 from 2,694,100 shares. CAL Bank alone sold 5,001,300 Change for the year was up at 3.30 per cent from 3.22 per cent.

On the broader market, there were seven price changes, all positive. However, there was still no change in the price of CAL Bank. Stanchart gained 50 cedis at 180,600 cedis, Fan Milk was five cedis higher at 19,505 cedis, SG-SSB was 140 cedis higher at 7,150 cedis, Total Petroleum rose by 29 cedis at 54,300 cedis, Anglogold Ashanti Depository Shares was 20 cedis better at 3,420 cedis, Ecobank Ghana Limited inched up by one cedi at 14,303 cedis and Ghana Commercial Bank was also better by one cedi at 6,801 cedis.

Market capitalization ended the session at 113,526.06 billion cedis from 113,502.22 billion cedis.
