The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) and nine other Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) within the National Statistical System have received $40 million from government and its development partners. The funds would support the agencies to produce timely statistics for the country’s development.
Dr. Osei Boeh-Ocansey, Chairman of the Governing Board of Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) made this known during the publication of the Ghana Living Standards Survey Round Six Reports in Accra recently.
“It is a reality that stakeholders cannot demand more from the GSS if the needed support in terms of provision of resources and capacity development is not forthcoming, he said.
Dr. Boeh-Ocansey entreated all stakeholders within the National Statistical System to collaborate with GSS and other data production agencies to produce up-to-date and timely statistics for the general public to use in their day-to-day decision-making processes to achieve better results.
He urged management and staff of the Service to work hard to produce and disseminate a wide range of statistics that are relevant to stakeholders in Ghana and beyond.
