Bolgatanga, July 1, GNA - Ghana Telecom (GT) is to expand its services to cover Bongo, Sandema and Bawku West Districts in the Upper East Region.
By December this year, the three Districts would be hooked to a Broad Band Access Network (BBAN) with 256 lines each. Alhaji Musah Awudu, Upper East Regional Head of GT who announced this on Wednesday at press conference in Bolgatanga, said the upgrading and expansion of telephone facilities would also cover the Bolgatanga, Bawku and Navrongo exchanges.
The current Alcatel Switch 3000 telephone lines in Bolgatanga would be expanded to 11,000 lines, Bawku from 512 lines to 5000 and Navrongo from 768 lines to 3000.
Alhaji Awudu said GT had acquired anti-fraud and fault detecting equipment and an advance billing system to facilitate quality customer services.
He appealed to customers to pay their bills promptly to enable GT to provide uninterrupted, efficient and reliable services. Alhaji Awudu said the Company was poised to bring development projects to deprived communities in fulfilment of its social responsibility.
