Ho, June 17, GNA - Ghana Telecom (GT) is taking steps to stop late billing through the introduction of a Billing Mediation System (BMS), a mechanism that will help process and distribute bills on time. It is also to begin a door-to-door bill delivery to prevent the situation were bills pile on customers due to the inability of customers to open their mailboxes regularly.
Mr Emmanuel Dziko, General Manager, Strategy and Business Development of the company, said this at the company's Town Hall meeting entitled "Time with GT" at Ho on Thursday. The meeting, which sought to renew the company's relationship with its customers, attracted personnel from the security services, ministries, departments and agencies and communication centre operators.
Mr Dziko said with the new facilities customers could demand their bills before the month ends. He said rural areas, which have GT signal but have no copper wires, are to be served by the installation of solar panel payphones. He said the service improvement measures were an indication that " GT has changed. We are now doing things differently, using better technology, better trained staff and better management practices."
During question time, participants asked questions ranging from unrealistic bills to the dangers associated with the use of mobile phones. In response to the difficulties encountered when calling emergency numbers, Mr Dziko said the company would consider creating a hotline for the Fire Service and other security services if the problem of easy access was found to be national.
