Accra, Jan. 28, GNA- The West African Gas Pipeline Project is on course with the Takoradi Plant set to start receiving gas by December, this year, Mr John Watson, President of Chevron International Exploration Company, has announced.
Mr Watson on Saturday said the project is on schedule and half of the pipelines had already been installed, when he paid a courtesy call on President John Agyekum Kufuor, at the Castle, Osu in Accra. Mr Watson described the gas pipeline project as very important in view of the environmental and economic benefits Ghana and its neighbouring countries stood to gain. He said his Company was therefore proud to be partners of the project.
President Kufuor noted that gas was a major resource for development, and said Ghana would ensure its productive, industrial and domestic use.
The President said he was happy that managers of the project were working around the clock to ensure that the gas pipeline project, which had been on the drawing board for sometime now, came on stream after he assumed office, was now nearing completion. He said it engendered a "Win-win " for all the partners. 28 Jan. 06
