The Ghana Association of Bankers (GAB) has honoured the former Managing Director of HFC Bank, Asare Akuffo, for his exemplary and transformational leadership qualities.
The honour was bestowed on him at a cocktail held in Accra recently.
Mr Daniel Ato Kwamina Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of GAB, said members in various ways lauded Mr Akuffo, who is also a past President of the Association, for his achievements during his ten years membership of the Association.
Recounting his achievements, Mr Mensah said they include the introduction of new Articles of Agreement and a Conduct of Business Standards (GABCOBS), which set the standards for intra-bank ethical behavior in the country.
Mr Akuffo served the Association in various capacities, including Vice-President from 2009 to 2011 and President from 2011 to 2014.
Until his retirement from HFC Bank on 30 June, 2015, Mr Akuffo was a council member of the GAB.
He was not only instrumental in the formulation of the constitution of GAB but also he engineered the physical relocation of its present offices to the Accra Financial Centre.
A pioneer Management staff of HFC Bank from 1990, Mr Akuffo rose to become the Financial Controller and Finance Director before assuming the leadership of the Bank in July 2005.
“He will be sorely missed and the Association wishes him well in his new endeavours,” Mr Mensah said.
