The Chief Executive of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Honourable Joseph Boahen Aidoo has arrested and reprimanded cheating Cocoa Purchasing Clerks (PCs) who have adjusted their scales to rip off cocoa farmers of their hard earned incomes.

Honourable Boahen Aidoo together with some of his subsidiary directors who arrested the PCs who have adjusted their scales from 1kg to 5kg invited them for further questioning at the COCOBOD Headquarters in Accra.

Honorable Aidoo who was on official working visit to the Eastern region to inspect the the progress of work of the effects of the Hand Pollination exercise in the region also did snap checks at the various Licensed Buying Company depots and buying centres which revealed the anomaly.

Honourable Aidoo toured some cocoa farms and interacted with the farmers and urged them to particularly engage in good agronomic practices and also report to the Community Extension Agents the detection of any disease on their farms immediately for the necessary action. He advised them to be particularly cautious of mistletoes.

He also inspected some cocoa road projects in the Eastern region to acquaint himself of the work done so far.

Honourable Aidoo assured that COCOBOD will do everything in its power to ensure that the cocoa farmers get the best output for their sweat in order to secure the economic fortunes of Ghana.
