After the first ever trade and investment exhibition held in London last year, the event moves to Atlanta in the State of Georgia in the USA.
The 4 day event dubbed GHAHA EXPO 2004 is themed: ?ENHANCING US-GHANA TRADE, A FUTURE OF ENDLESS OPPORTUNITIES is expected to host over 450 Ghanaian and American companies.
In a press statement release in London, and signed by the Directors of EXPO AFRICA, Kwame Owusu Afriyie and Kwabena Afriyie Asamoah, this years event will be held from 23rd to 26th September 2004 at the prestigious Georgia World Congress Centre (GWCC) which is within close proximity of historic Georgia Dome, the CNN studios, Centennial Olympic Park and the Philips Arena.
According to the release, GHANA EXPO 2004 aims to showcase the vast untapped trade and investment opportunities in Ghana. It also seeks to promote Ghana as a rich and reliable source of raw materials, finished products, quality and affordable labour.
The exhibition will also run concurrently with sessions of seminars to be addressed by government delegates and business executives from Ghana and the US.
Participants and officials of the fair would be accommodated at the Omni Hotel at the CNN centre, a four-star facility which is immediately adjacent to the Georgia World Congress Centre. Agreement to that effect was signed between the officials of the EXPO AFRICA and the Omni Hotel, CNN Centre last week.
GHANA EXPO 2004 would also seek to collaborate with the business communities in the US, government and non-governmental agencies to ensure the success of the event. This includes the office of the Mayor of Atlanta, the office of the Governor of Atlanta, the US Embassy in Accra etc. To this effect an agreement has been reached in principle with the Georgia AGOA Commission to handle the matchmaking of Ghanaian and US businesses.
The statement noted, Expo Africa Ltd has engaged the services of Destiny Agencies, an Atlanta based event-management company and African Communications Agency to manage the operational and public relations aspects of the event respectively.
It said owing to heightened security situation in the United States and to accommodate the stringent visa procedure at the US embassy all prospective participants are advised to register as early as at the office of the EXPO AFRICA at the GRACE HOUSE at Danquah Circle in Accra.
