The Ghana National Gas Limited Company (Ghana Gas) will shut down its major processing plants on August 1, 2024, for planned maintenance works.

Ernest Owusu Bempah, the head of corporate communications for Ghana Gas, announced that the Gas Processing Plant (GPP) and offshore Gas Export Facilities will be closed from August 1 to 17, 2024.

During a press briefing on Thursday, August 1, 2024, he explained that the shutdown is necessary for critical safety and essential maintenance works to improve the plant's operational efficiency and ensure uninterrupted gas supply.

“We need to perform critical maintenance on the gas infrastructure. It is crucial that we adhere to protocols to ensure the facility's operational activities run smoothly,” Bempah stated.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining the plant's lifespan and efficiency through proper maintenance procedures.

Bempah also mentioned that Lean Gas from the Sankofa-OCTP field will be available for delivery at the Takoradi Distribution Station (TDS) during the shut down period.

He reassured the general public that there will be no interruption in power supply during this time.

“Ghana Gas assures the public that there will be no power supply disruptions as we have made alternative arrangements. Lean Gas from Sankofa-OCTP will be available for delivery,” he said.
