Ghana Home Loans has held its first Developers and Estate Agents seminar for the year .

The seminar assessed business performance for previous years and further deepened relationships with industry players, too.

The well attended event saw over 120 developers across country participating, with leading urban planning specialist Dr. Kwadwo Ohene Sarfoh and representatives from GREDA also in attendance.

The first of the bi-annual seminar featured an overview of GHL’s business performance for 2016 by the Business Development Manager Mrs. Sylvia Adobea Adadey.

She highlighted the continuous increase in private vendor transactions over the years and attributed this to the fact that potential buyers mostly sought after completed or nearly completed properties which were mostly readily available by individuals as compared to developers.

She urged the developers to review completion periods for properties since they have the advantage of building to certain specifications of buyers. Furthermore, Mrs. Adadey challenged the developers to come on board with GHL’s vision of extending services to the untapped Kumasi market.

Dr. Ohene Sarfoh spoke on developers exploring their potential particularly given the key and yet limited resource in real estate – land. With current statistics of population growth, he advised developers to come with diverse models that would not only momentarily address the housing needs facing the nation but those that would offer long term solutions.

In his presentation, he mentioned adaptive reuse of properties and changes in technology leading to more mixed-use developments which cater to all income levels at the same time maximizing the full potential of land.

Mr. Sammy Amegayibor Executive Secretary for GREDA also pledged the continuous support of the association to aid developers in addressing day to day concerns or challenges faced in the industry.

As part of the activity line up for the seminar, awards were presented to top three performing developers that helped in generating business for GHL over the 2016 business year. Agri-Cattle Lakeside Estates and New Oak Estates came in as second and first runners-up respectively.

Devtraco Limited was adjudged the winner for the year 2016. The awards were presented by Chief Operations Officer of GHL, Mr. Kojo Addo-Kufuor. Also participating in the seminar were members of the Real Estate Clubs from a number of tertiary institutions across the country.

It formed part of the activities for a summit organized for the students over a three day period with GHL as a major sponsor.

Ghana Home Loans continues to be the nation’s leading provider in residential loans to both resident and non-resident Ghanaians as well as non-Ghanaians resident in Ghana.
