Of Ghanaian Banking In The City Of London
The flag of Ghana will fly high in the city of London on Friday 9th October 2009 when Ghana International Bank Plc celebrates 50years of Ghanaian banking in the city of London. To mark the occasion a special business forum co hosted by the Commonwealth Business Council is being held. After the forum GhIB will hold a short ceremony to formally reopen its refurbished office building at Cheapside, a traditional banking district in the city of London. The event will be graced with the attendance the Honourable Minister for Finance Ghana, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, the Ghana High Commissioner to UK Prof. Kwaku Danso-Boafo and a representative from the Commonwealth Business Council.
GhIB is a fully owned Ghanaian bank registered as a PLC in the UK. The bank took over in April 1998 the business of the erstwhile Ghana Commercial Bank London Branch which had been operating out of 69 Cheapside, London EC2P 2BB since 1959. The bank which is owned by Bank of Ghana, Ghana Commercial Bank Ltd, Social Security and National Investment Trust, Agricultural Development Bank Ltd, State Insurance Company, is Regulated by the Financial Services Authority in the United Kingdom.
