Ghana Made Products Awards to honour indigenous manufacturers

The maiden Ghana Made Product Awards 2013, an initiative of Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana (EFG), has listed a number of outstanding Made in Ghana products for honours.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 26, at the Banquet Hall, State House in Accra on the theme, “Patronising Ghana- Made Products; the Gateway to Economic Development,” under the auspices of Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Finance and Ghana Standards Authority.

A statement issued in Accra at the weekend by Mr Sam Ato Gaisie, Founder and President of EFG, copied to Ghana News Agency stated that the award seeks to celebrate some of the pride of Ghanaian indigenous products from small and medium industries and expose them to Ghanaians throughout the country.

This is aimed at promoting and creating awareness and building product loyalty to meet the challenges of domestic and international markets.

The awards and dinner night is under the Chairmanship of Nana Osei Bonsu, Chief Executive Officer of Private Enterprise Federation while the Guest Speaker is Mr Prince Kofi Amoabeng, President of UT Holdings.

It is being sponsored by Global Access Savings and Loans, UT Bank, Zoomlion Group, ghanatrade.gov.gh and media partnership from China Central Television (CCTV Africa), Agoo Magazine, Entrepreneur Magazine, Crystal TV, Daily Graphic and Business and Financial Times.

Some of the made in Ghana products nominated for awards include Latex Foam’s orthopaedic mattress, Duraplast septic tank, Reroy’s 4.0mm conduit cable; M&G Pharmaceuticals Zintab 10mg/20 mg and Ezipen tablet, Special Ice mineral water; Neat Fufu and GIHOC’s Takai & Mandingo Bitters.

Others are Nkulenu bottled Palm Wine & Palm Soup Base, Poly Tank, Everpack Akwaaba tissue paper and Jumbo Kitchen towel, Central Wood Furniture; Accents and Arts metal balustrades & furniture, Interplast’s HDPE gas pipe, Qualiplast Waste bins and multi-purpose crates.

The rest are Chocho Cream, Soap & Hair Food, Nsawam Cannery Pineapple Juice; Getrade Village Fresh Alata Samina; Agbeve Herbal Tonic; Nallem Afrocentric Clothing; Samba Shito in sachets 25g and Samba KFC Shito in sachet 12g; Hords Smart Look Spray Starch, Hords natural soyabetix, Msimps Hand bags; Horseman Men’s Shoes and Freehand Studio Paintings.
