Ghana-Re donates to four institutions

Accra, Oct. 5, GNA - Ghana Reinsurance Company Limited (Ghana-Re) on Thursday presented cheques totalling 170 million cedis to four institutions in Accra.

They are the College of Health Sciences (CHS), Ghana National Trust Fund (GNTF), School of Medical Sciences (SMS) and the Department of Child Health (DCH), Korle=96Bu Teaching Hospital. The CHS received 60 million cedis, GNTF and DCH had 30 million cedis each, while SMS had 50 million cedis.

Mr William Agbenyega, Managing Director of GRCL, said it was the Company's policy to set aside a percentage of its budgeted pre-tax profits to be used as gifts and donations to deserving institutions. He said the policy was aimed at assisting the less fortunate and physically challenged as well as supporting national causes in the area of medical facilities, education, award schemes and the National Farmers' Day.

Mr Agbenyega noted that the Company had over the years exhibited its commitment to the promotion of youth programmes to support them in their future endeavours.

=93We believe that by doing this, Ghana-Re would be assisting the Government to provide the necessary foundation for skilled human resource for the future, as well as fulfil its duties as a good corporate citizen.=94

Professor Francis Abantanga, Vice Dean, School of Medical Sciences, commended the Company for their support and pledged to make good use of the money.

Ms Joyce Frimpong, Executive Secretary of the Ghana National Trust Fund, also commended Ghana-Re for their continuous support to the organization and expressed the hope that the contact between the two organizations which dated back many years would be strengthened. She said the money would be used judiciously to train many disabled persons, who called at their various offices for assistance.
