Ghana Telecom supports KNUST

Accra, May 30, GNA - Ghana Telecommunication (GT) Company Limited has presented a multi-purpose printing equipment to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) at a ceremony in Accra. The 300,000-dollar colour Xerox multi-purpose printer, according to Mr Seyram Kotey, Head IT Services at GT, was the company's way of helping to solve some of the pressing needs of the nation's educational institutions that were capital intensive.

He explained that GT acquired the multi-purpose printers in the past to facilitate its huge printing requirements. "But when our focus changed from delivering printed bills to a prepaid system, we decided to find very suitable and effective use for the equipment. Immediately, some institutional needs came to mind and we acted on it."

Receiving the items, Mr Vincent A. Ankamah, Registrar in-Charge of General Administration, described the gesture as most opportune, saying that, "it would solve all the university's printing needs, especially during examination periods when so much printing needs to be done. "We are most grateful for this presentation and believe that it will help us immensely as we can also use it to provide private services to raise some money for maintenance," he said.
