Ghana is on a mission to take the forefront on the development of Africa by improving trade relations with other African countries. Torgbor Mensah, the CEO of Argon, is in South Africa to set up and cement relations between South Africa and Ghana, on a corporate and national level.
"Argon is the biggest business group in Africa and for me we want to extend on the Nepad idea...to say how we can help Africa," said Mensah. The Argon group is a diverse group of companies based in Ghana whose primary focus is on communications, consisting of outdoor advertising, public relations, marketing and direct marketing.
Mensah says African countries must market their own products to other African countries before they can showcase their products on other continents. He says he is in South Africa to do just that and "we must be like the Americans and shout it out to show what we have here". He believes the two countries can work together on a number of services such as tourism, business and education.
Companies from South Africa that have set up businesses in Ghana include Checkers and Woolworths.
