The Italian Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Daniela d'Orlandi, has called for increased promotion of tourism in Ghana.

In an interview with Harriet Nartey on the Diplomatic Affairs show on Pan African TV, on June 16, 2024, the ambassador highlighted the country's rich cultural heritage and diverse tourist attractions.

Having completed her four-year term in Ghana, Ambassador d'Orlandi expressed her admiration for the country's vast tourism potential.

"I think I visited 10 out of the 16 regions of Ghana and most of the highlands. Ghana is very rich, culturally speaking," she remarked.

Detailing her experiences, the ambassador recounted attending significant cultural festivals such as the Homowo festival of the Ga people and the Akwasidae festival for the Ashantis in Kumasi.

She also explored various tourist sites, including the stilt village in Nzulezu, the canopy walk, and Mole National Park, where she was captivated by the sight of beautiful elephants.

Additionally, she visited many of the historic castles and forts scattered across the country.

Ambassador d'Orlandi emphasized the untapped potential of Ghana's tourism sector.

"Ghana is amazing and boundless, and I believe that Ghana deserves greater visibility on the global map in terms of tourism and promotion. More tourists from abroad, not just the diaspora but others as well, should come to Ghana and discover this beautiful country," she stated.

She also commended Ghana for its peaceful and stable environment and the warm hospitality of its people, drawing a parallel with the friendliness of Italians.

"Moreover, it is so peaceful and stable here, with people as friendly as Italians," she added.
