Petroleum expert Tsatsu Tsikata has stated that Ghana is on track with its management of the oil sector.

He, however, says a lot more is required to totally avoid the difficulties other countries have been hit with in their handling of the sector.

“We are on track because we have a frame work that enables us to avoid the troubles that have confronted Nigeria and other areas.

“We have to recognise that we do not have all the means to deal with resources.

"The Brazilians did a great job of developing their own capacity… Their technology in oil and gas is exported to the US and that should probably be part of the overall objective for developing countries,” the legal luminary told Morning Starr host Nii Arday Clegg Friday.

On Nigeria’s oil sector, Tsatsu said although the West African country had faced challenges with its oil sector in the past, its new President Muhammadu Buhari appears to be bringing some sanity to the sector.

“The new President of Nigeria is showing a new kind of leadership which is based on integrity and thus addressing issues.”
