National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Bia East and a Member of the Finance Committee Hon. Richard Acheampong, has hit hard at his colleague NPP MP, Hon. Akoto Osei claiming that Ghana's economy has collapsed under the governing NDC.
The Old Tafo constituency MP Hon. Akoto Osei took to his facebook wall admonishing his constituents and Ghanaians to pray for the NPP to ensure that they win the upcoming elections to ensure that Ghana's crippling economy is saved from grinding to a collapse.
"Greetings to you all my cherished fans and the good people of Ghana. Most especially, the people of Tafo pankrono constituency. Keep on praying for us always. The battle is still the lords. Ghana will work again under the leadership of Nana Addo n the NPP. Let's all keep hopes alive. The NDC has totally collapsed Ghana and we must work together to win power again. Together we can. God bless Ghana. God bless the NPP. Thank you," Mr. Akoto Osei wrote on his facebook wall.
In response Mr. Richard Acheampong described the statement by his colleague MP as an "old wine in a new bottle", because the NPP has trumpeted the same message over and over again hence it is no difference to what they have always said.
According to him, the Mahama led administration has worked so hard to ensure economic growth in the country.
He opined that government has followed a path of fiscal consolidation, investing in the real and social sectors. He added, the prospects of Ghana's economy remains bright and resilient.
Hon. Richard Acheampong said a lot of economic activities is currently ongoing across the country following the massive elctrification and infrastructural development especially in very deprived communities in the country.
He accused the MP of being mischievous and peddling falsehood on the status of the economy, since the economy is robust and creating opportunities for businesses, contractors and improving lives of Ghanaians.
The MP noted, a crippling economy cannot create employment for young people as the Mahama led administration has achieved, hence, Ghanaians should treat with contempt the claims by the opposition NPP will want to win power at all cost.
