Ghana will host the maiden Africa Air Expo from November 9 – 11, 2014 in Accra to showcase the achievements of the civil aviation industry in Africa.
Mrs Dzifa Aku Attivor, Minister of Transport, made the announcement on Tuesday in Accra at a ceremony to welcome Dr Youif Hasan Al Hammadi, President of Aviation Association of Emirate and Chair of the Organizing Committee of Abu Dhabi Air Expo.
The Minister said the Africa Air Expo would be launched on Tuesday November 8 at the Banquet Hall of the State House, as part of activities heralding it, adding that it is a private initiative with President John Dramani Mahama as a patron.
She said the programme was dear to the heart of Ghana and urged the media to promote it.
Mrs Attivor noted that the aviation industry in Ghana was booming, adding, however, that there was the need for infrastructure upgrading.
Dr Al Hammadi, who is one of the key players in the organization of the Africa Air Expo, said Ghana is a beacon of peace and stability and therefore the appropriate venue for the programme.
He said the Africa Air Expo would showcase Ghana to the international community and would attract more investors into the country.
“We are doing everything together to promote the aviation industry,” he stated.
Mr Mobeen A. Motara, Chief Executive Officer of Ice Aviation said Ghana is an economic hub of Africa and the aviation industry is no exception.
