GhanaAir Staff Unhappy With Purchase Agreement

JOYNEWS has picked signals of discontent among some senior staff of Ghana Airways over reports that a new purchase agreement is underway for the national carrier.

Two bidders have been mentioned ? the Ghana International Airlines said to have links with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the Fidelity consortium, comprising KLM and Kenya Airways.

Sources at the Ghana Airways office said the government seems to be favouring the proposal from the Ghana International Airlines. It has valued Ghana Airways and its assets at 6 million dollars.

But the Roads and Transport Minister, Dr. Richard Anane denied the allegations. He explained to JoyNews that negotiations are still going on after the two bidders presented their business plans.

The Minister promised that any decision on Ghana will be taken with the utmost interest of Ghana in consideration.

Ghana Airways has been in the news consistently often for the wrong reasons running from delayed flights, seized aircrafts, attempted stowaways and bad management.
