Twenty journalists from across Ghana have been selected for specialised training on investigating Illicit Financial Flows (IFF) in the country.

This includes GhanaWeb’s business journalist and host of BizTech and BizHeadlines, Ernestina Serwaa Asante.

The confirmatory email stated, “Congratulations! We are looking forward to seeing you at this specialised training on investigating illicit financial flows in Ghana. You are one of the 20 journalists from all over the country who are participating in this important training.”

The workshop, set for November 12-14, 2024, in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, aims to equip participants with critical skills and insights for reporting on IFF-related issues.

IFFs have a particularly damaging impact on low-income countries, impeding international development efforts and posing risks that destabilise societies, which can increase the likelihood of violent conflict.

This three-day intensive programme, organised by NewsBridge Africa and funded by GIZ, will cover essential topics, including understanding the complexities of Illicit Financial Flows, investigative techniques for uncovering IFF activities, data analysis, and visualisation for IFF reporting.

Participants will also explore legal and ethical considerations in financial journalism and review case studies of successful IFF investigations.
