Ghanaian Businessmen to participate in Chicago workshop

A 40-member Ghanaian business delegation would participate in a four-day business, trade and investment opportunities workshop and exhibition in Chicago, Illinois in the United States of America in July this year.

African Connections Ghana Limited (AC), a non-governmental American organization and the Ministry of Trade and Industry are organizing the workshop, dubbed "Focus on Ghana" to bring to fore opportunities for Ghanaian businessmen to strike businesses in the USA with American investors.

A statement issued in Accra by AC and signed by the Public Relations Officer by Geoffery Sepenu, said the workshop would also create a platform for Ghanaian government officials and business leaders to discuss business and economic development opportunities in Ghana.

Topics to be treated at the workshop would include "Doing Business in Ghana: Overview of Ghana's Business Environment, Overview of Ghana's Free Zone Programme, Opportunities under the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) and Financing options available for business in Ghana."

The statement said at an organizational meeting for the business delegation prior to their departure, the Executive Director of African Connections, USA, Dr Ayisha S. Hakeem, said there were a number of golden opportunities for Ghanaian businessmen in the USA.

Dr Hakeem, who is also the Managing Director of AC Ghana Limited, therefore, advised the delegation to equip themselves with good business plans, which would attract American investors to willingly do business with them.

Dr John W. Oteng of the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Ghana, Legon, who participated in a similar workshop and exhibition a month ago, shared his experiences and success story with the delegation.

He described his visit to Chicago as very fruitful and successful and urged the delegation to carry along a feasibility studies reports and business plans to facilitate good business linkages.
